Worth The Popcorn? Zack Snyder’s Justice League(2021) Review

It’s finally here, the fans have won and after YEARS of waiting I can confirm that this was worth the wait, this is a 4 hour long masterpiece. This is my review of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the true vision the director had for the team up movie back in 2017 before he was kicked off the project, the movie sort of fixes the mistakes made by the original and also improves greatly.

You can check out my review of Netflix’s Army Of The Dead here.

In this review, like my many others, I will be telling you What I Loved And Hated then whether you should check it out and my overall rating of the movie so let’s begin.

What I Loved And Hated

Let’s start with what I Loved

The CGI improvements

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Oh my God this movie cleans up so many things, it gives us 10 times better CGI than the 2017 version. Where the 2017 version sort of tried to remake Marvel’s Avengers movie with DC character and forgot to remake the CGI to be on par, Snyder’s version gave a lot of attention to the visual effects throughout the movie giving us some amazing detailing of individual characters and an overall better looking movie.

The first and best improvement in CGI they made was with Steppenwolf who was made to look a lot more like an alien instead of the humanoid character that we were given in 2017, The new Steppenwolf looks a lot more fierce and threating and the theatrical version just looked like josh from accounting.

The other CGI thing they improved was Clark Kent’s mouth which was really really botched in the theatrical release, this version of Supe’s mouth doesn’t make the CGI obvious in fact if you watch the movie you see that the awful CGI look from the first Justice League does not exist and it looks more like Henry Cavil himself came and retook and the scenes, good bye mustache superman, you will never be missed.

It’s More Movie

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is four hours long and it has a lot more scenes than the theatrical release, a lot of people were wondering whether this movie would actual have more content and it really does and a lot of the content in this is just essential to the overall story instead of just being filler content.

I also wanna point out how I think it was a great idea to make this a whole movie instead of the series format they had planned, the movies just flows really well as a movie a you can’t really stop watching because you’re met with so much great content that’s even better than the theatrical release.

It’s Not Too Dark

Get it? I put a picture of the DARK Knight right before talking about how not dark the movie is….. You know what, never mind

Zack Snyder said his cut would contain a lot less jokes and I think a lot of people (Myself included) though it’d have a super serious tone throughout but it really isn’t, Yes it does not make as many jokes or goof around as much as the theatrical release but it is quite funny because of characters like Victor Stone and The Flash and then other characters that are just unintentionally funny like Alfred.

The movie has a dark serious tone but they don’t make that continue throughout the movie so the various joking and wholesome-ness throughout the movie is a great addition because it gives you a chance to laugh a little after pulling a serious focused face for half an hour or an entire hour.

Victor Stone

Zack Snyder’s Justice League makes Victor Stone (Cyborg) a much more important character throughout the movie instead of the little bit’s of story we got in the theatrical version. Cyborg has more story which sort of makes you like the character even more and appreciate the role he has in the movie.

Jared Leto’s Joker

Jared Leto’s Joker was not really everyone’s favourite take on the classic Clown Prince Of Crime back when Suicide Squad released but Zack Snyder sort of makes the character better? The character is much more likeable and I’m not saying this because it’s a Zack Snyder movie but just because Leto gave such a great performance that redeemed the character and made me and a bunch of people on the internet really want to see more of the character.

Let’s Look at what I did not like

The New Wonder Woman Theme

My God the new theme song they gave Wonder Woman was truly awful, I mean there might be a good reason for why they changed the theme song but I feel like there’ll never be a good enough reason to change such a great theme. The theme song is annoying and the fact that it’s repeated every time Wonder Woman is on screen makes me want to skip every Wonder Woman scene, hhaayyii ngeke I hated it a lot.

Apart from that, I didn’t hate anything else and found this movie to be a lot more entertaining and a lot less embarrassing to every character involved. I will surely miss Batfleck.

Should You Check It Out?

Absolutely, this movie is just great from start to finish. It may be long as hell but it’s like every scene is an improvement over what we got in 2017 and I’m not saying that because I’m a DC or Zack Snyder Fan boy but because I am a comic book movie fan and this, this is a great comic book movie.

Out of 10, I am really happy to give this movie a 9/10. It’s really that great with it’s only flaw (in my opinion) being what they did wrong and sure it’s long but if you clear up some time you will not regret making time for it.

Zack Snyder delivered everything fans wanted while also showcasing his original vision for the team up movie. The movie is a must watch and it will not disappoint you whether you’re a DC fan or not. This has been my review of Zack Snyder’s Justice League which is now available to stream on HBO Max.
