1. What I Loved And Hated

Let’s start with what I loved.

The Story

The story in True Story is really great, thrilling and filled with twists. Every episode is great and seeing the story unfold with the twists revealing themselves in a pretty well written way that makes watching every episode a good experience.

None of the episodes really slow down with telling the story even when they do, they keep you watching by just throwing a new twist at you that keeps you glued to the screen. This is not to say every episode has a bunch of twist the whole time but there are twists that are sometimes actually unexpected and pretty shocking.

Kevin Hart & Theo Rossi

Kevin Hart And Theo Rossi in True Story

This is Kevin Hart’s second serious role after Fatherhood and with this role Kevin continues to prove that he can truly act giving a really dramatic performance throughout the entire series, he plays a character that’s basically him dialed down by maybe 5 and he gives an amazing performance that keeps you hooked throughout, I really liked that.

Theo Rossi (from Army Of The Dead and Sons Of Anarchy) gave a solid performance especially after his unimpressive role in Army Of The Dead, I really enjoyed his well written character and Theo gave a really great performance as a Stan. Theo’s performance is my second favorite performance in this entire series, he really gave a great performance.

The Twists

True Story

True Story contains a bunch of twist that just make the entire story more interesting instead of the usually trying to make you feel like you missed something that most movies and series give.

The writers really put some thought into every single twist and turn and made sure that none of the twists make you the viewer feel dumb but instead make you go “God Damn”. Some of the twist you can see coming but others just smack you in the face unexpectedly and depending on how close you are to a character, will pull at your heartstrings.

What I Hated

I didn’t hate anything, this series is a drama series and it just delivers on that nothing huge.

2. Should You Watch?

Yes you really should. True Story presents itself as a Drama series and it gives you that, great twist, some great characters that are performed by great actors and an amazing script, I think finding a flaw in this series is the hardest thing to do because it does not really offer you a lot just a good story and good acting, nothing more and nothing less

Out of 10, I am confident enough to give this series a perfect 10. The story was amazing, with a huge twist and the cast gave the performance of their careers.

You can Stream True Story here.

Conclusion

True Story has a great script that helps Kevin Hart show that he is more than just a comedy actor giving one of his greatest serious performances even giving a better performance than Wesley Snipes.

Out of 10 I give this movie a 10 because I truly loved watching and it was able to make me watch it on a single sitting which is something I almost never do.
