The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window Review: A Perfect Parody

The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window is a new Netflix comedy series that parodies a lot of classic horror movies and it does it perfectly. This is my The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window review… What a mouthful.

I’m not rewriting that entire name but the series see’s Anna go on a solo investigation after seeing a murder from her living room window but not everything is as it seems.

In this review, like my others, I will be telling you what I liked and didn’t like in this 8 episode series and then tell you whether you should check it out or not and my rating out of 10.

The comedy series is streaming on Netflix here

What I Liked And Didn’t Like

What I Liked

The Comedy

This series is really funny from start to finish, the comedy is really well written whether it’s the dialogue between characters or it’s just background elements I saw throughout, this movie is just funny and it does not miss or give terrible jokes.

The comedy aspects are not cringe too, I found all of the comedy really funny and didn’t find myself wishing I hadn’t heard a certain joke, the series is funny from it’s first episode to the very last scene. Something I think you should go into this series knowing is that it’s a parody and not an original story that should be taken too seriously, knowing that just made it even funnier for me and I think it will for you.

The Characters

The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window

There are 9 main characters in this movie and each of them were really so funny with my highlight being Cameron Britton‘s Buell character. The cast give a great performance too in this delivering their extremely funny lines with dead serious expression, I watched this entire series with a smile on my face.

I don’t wanna say the characters were goofy or anything like that but they were really funny in a way that wasn’t trying to force laughter out of you, if you have an okay sense of humor then you’ll find the characters funny.

Kristen Bell

Leading lady Kristen Bell gave such an excellent performance man I loved it so much. Her performance was similar to Anna Faris from the Scary Movie film series with her character sharing the same name and ma’am was so great. Not saying everyone else wasn’t great, in fact everyone gave a fantastic performance but Kristen was so good man.

Bell was just so great in this movie with her portrayal of this character that’s slowly going insane being really perfect, I swear she just made the series that much better even though it was already great. My biggest question from this series is how many bottles of wine can fill one glass???

The Story And Twist

Inventing Anna

This movie’s story is just absolutely insane and it makes it obvious that it’s a parody from the begin, it doesn’t have a moment of super seriousness but it does have some suspenseful moments that despite the amount of comedy in this were really good it also has great quotes like “You know, I used to feel bad for you I prayed for you but I do not feel bad for you anymore and I will not pray for you anymore. Seriously Anna, you are no longer in my prayers”.

The series also has a twist and it’s definitely the batshit crazy twist you expect from a parody, I found myself in shock and crying out of laughter when the twist came and my god even thinking of it now puts a smile on my face.

Another thing I liked is that it’s not long, the series is 8 episodes long with each episode being les than 30 minutes long. The pacing is just perfect and the story just flows perfectly throughout, it’s the perfect Netflix quick binge.

What I Didn’t Like

I honestly did not find a flaw in this series it was great from start to finish for me.

Should You Check It Out?

Yes absolutely but keep in mind that it’s a parody, I feel like a lot of people went into this expecting a serious murder mystery and were disappointed with what they got instead which is understandable but I recommend going into this the same way you’d go into a movie like the first Scary Movie instead of something like True Story (You know that Kevin Hart crime mini-series).

Out of 10 I’m gladly giving this series a 9/10, it’s really great and I did not waste my time watching it and reading it’s name.

Check it out on Netflix now

Conclusion

The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window is a great comedy series to quickly watch if you’re bored and looking for something to make you laugh a bit. Just like movies like Scary Movie, it leaves you entertained just not as insane as those movies, those movies were really crazy lmao.
